How to create PDF files for free

Have you ever seen a PDF file on the Internet and wished that you could create one? If so, then this tutorial is for you. For those of you who do not know, a PDF file is a formatted document that is designed to look the same when printed as it does on the screen. However, unlike most other similar types of documents, there is a no-cost reader for every major platform, and the documents cannot be easily changed by others.

What these two differences mean for publishers are that almost everyone can view the document and be sure that the information contained within has not been altered by a malicious party. Adobe Reader allows people running Windows, Linux, and Mac OS to read these documents, but not to create them. Adobe does provide a pay-for solution for creating PDFs, but I promised a free solution.

Primo PDF is no-cost software for Windows that installs a print driver on your computer; this print driver does not correspond to a printer attached to your computer, but is actually a program to generate PDF files. The process could not be easier. All one has to do is open a word processor or text editor, type in the contents for the PDF, print the document to the PDF printer, and voila, the document has been converted. If the document will ever need to be modified in the future, it should also be saved in another format such as DOC, ODT, WPF, TXT, etc. so that it may be modified later.

Now you can spread documents on the Internet confident that no one will change your content or try to take credit for your work.
